Title: Reinforced springs?
Post by: Ludvig on 18 March 2007, 21:36:23
I was under my Omega Caravan today checking things out. It seems like some previous owner has fitted reinforced rear springs. The car has a self levelling system. Are reinforced springs really a good combination with the self levelling system?

Well, at least now I know why the Omega is so stiff in the rear....

Does your estate (Caravan) have a tow bar fitted? If so then the reasonable course of fitting reinforced springs would be to counter the weight onto the rear end when towing.

As to if it is a good combination with the self leveling system then i would not know. :)

It used to have a tow bar fitted, which is now removed. Normally, I wouldn't be surprised to find reinforced springs in the back. But considering you're supposed to put only about 75 kgs of pressure on the tow bar, it seems like the levelling system could take care of that(?)

Anyway, the stiff behind makes it ride a bit like a tiny Astra :-| And I want the smooooooth Omega ride  8-)
