I have a problem with my drivers door on my 1997 V6 Reflection - After locking my car for about an hour, I returned to find when I pressed the door open button on the key fob the drivers door failed to open and had to use the key. The central locking is working on all other doors and I can open and close the doors from the inside using the button on the drivers door.
I noticed that the red light on the alarm button on the dash is flashing within the ten second interval for the imobiliser. Can anyone advise me what might be the problem.

Now there's a coincidence!
I was just about to post saying my passenger door won't lock automatically and I find this post.
Is it spreading like a virus?
I have seen the post on how to get the door card off http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152953579
Do I have to delve all the way in or is it a case of spraying grease somewhere strategic?

Hopefully it is just a sticking mechanism. Remove the door card, carefully peel back the plastic and liberally spray some WD40 or similar as best you can around the latch etc.
I guess worse case scenario would be a new motor for the lock :-/

Remove the door card.
Clean and lube all the mechanism and lock with WD40 and a rag.
Follow up with a good helping of grease and everything should be as right as rain.
The mechanisms just seize up over time.

I have had a similar problem in the past. Mine was cured by spraying duck oil or WD40 down the sides of the door button as well as the door lock mechanism and inside the holes where the door handle is connected. This solved the problem. It occassionally returns and up till now this has always cured it. Beyond this I cannot help.

If the door locks and mechanisms were needing lubed would the flashing fault sequence on the alarm swich still happen ? :)

Its the CDL motor getting tired. Lubing mech may help for a while, but is masking real cause in most cases. Gets worse in bad weather...

Remember this on a previous thread, I was advised by a mate at Vx, to use silicone on / in the Central Locking Motor, after cleaning it out first, IF POSSIBLE, depends on your ability however... Vx used a white grease originally, it's viscosity changes with temperature, so they tend to stick when it's cold and work fine when warm... Silicone spray cockpit shine works great, did mine a few years ago, no probs since..

I had a go at spraying but no go so I have tried to get the card off.
It is getting stuck at the lock end where the button comes through the doorcard. I can't see any way to get it past.
The model is 2.5 cd estate 1999
Any ideas?

Have you taken the knob off? You need to lever out the red plastic thingy first.

Yeah I finally got it off. I did find there's another screw in the center of the door behind the grab handle. It seems to be a bit different to the one shown on the site.
Anyway it looks like the motor has gone, it works but it's very lazy.
I think that it looks a bit tricky to get it out as there's no room to move so I guess it will have to stay broke.
At least it's the passenger door so it won't be used all that much, I can reach across and open it if needs be.

Lock started working again after a good spraying of WD40 down the door button and the lock mechanism hope this has cured it
