Once started, idles fine.

Did have EML on earlier, haven't read codes, not sure it would be related anyway...

Is this hot or cold or both?

Does it stink of petrol, when cranking?.....just wondering if it was flooding and knowing you when you say without throttle, that probably means you've got year foot on floor.....which i think shuts the injectors off.....so you'll be getting more air in...and it starting  :-/

My immediate thought is plenum leak.  Then I remembered that you just had it off . . .

As JamesV6CDX will confirm, I suspected an air leak....

The important distinction is that it is probably behind the throttle body if opening the throttle helps.

Yup, heard it running last night, definately a slight leak, but I'll be buggered if I could confirm where. Sounded towards passenger side... that suspect ICV pipe might have something to do with it?

Possibly, but that pipe, although needs replacing when I can source a good one, is still reasonable airtight I reckon....
