Title: aux heater problem

Hi all,
Anyone had problems with aux heater under lights drivers side .  I have a 2.2 DTI 2003 and there are drips under the car when stopped. Checked hoses and they are fine.
Also just for info any problems with the welds on drivers door, mine are waving goodbuy to the door!
Other than that love the Omega.

Welcome to site Linda :)

Is the leak coming from the pump?  Usually very reliable, so 2nd hand one from ebay or scrapyard should be fine.

The door, are you on about the check strap?  There is a strengthening kit if it has got bad, if its just noisy, new bushes sometimes cure...

Are you sure that the water is not just 'standing water' :question  It may have come off the rest of the body work, pools underneath light, then after movement of the car runs off body work.

Have you headlight washers fitted? If so could be leaks from pipe work.

Just thinking aloud. :y

Hi,
Cheers for your reply. It is the aux heater i think they are only in diesels. £350 for new one so not so good!
As for the door its the weld that the hinge attaches to thats comming away from the body of the car so it will need welded back on.

Money money everybody wants my money!!!

Howdoo Linda, the door thing certainly sounds like the common checkstrap.  

Without wanting to sound a dafty, you sure its the door hinges and not the central check strap, the silver strap thats meant to stop the door opening too far?  The silver checkstrap failure is common and, provided you can get in there reasonably early, can be fixed.  The car coloured door hinges are a different option, however.

For the aux pump leak, how much is actually leaking?  Do you have to top up regularly, or is it something you could live with, if pumps are harder to track down?....

You do get leakage from the aircon condensate to the rear of the engine bay and is nowt to worry about, its only the dampness thats been removed from the air in the car and condensed out....
