Title: 2.5TD - where is engine no?

title says it all. I need some oil filters urgently....

I think it's on the right hand side of the engine, towards the back (looking at the car from the front).

i.e. nearside of the car.

I think if you have MAF sensor it's 97 on/ cheap filter.
Also hex sump plug.
Also plastic filter cover.
I got engine number from V5 but Vaux advised wrong filter. (maybe not origmotor)

Just been to a friendly Vx dealer, bought both filters, can return the one I don't need. They think likely cheaper one but cannot tell with that diesel engine, as the engine numbers were not fitted sequentially or something.

I have hex plug, and plastic filter cover, so looks like it is the more common one.  But at least I have both, so won't get stuck part way through.
