Title: Ecotec 2.0 Crank Sensor
Post by: omegalyn on 31 March 2007, 15:58:27

Can anyone please tell me where the crank sensor is located on a ecotec 2.0 16v. do I need to take things off before I can get to it. I have followed the wire and I loos track of it behind the steering pump, my hand is too big to get to it!!!.
I have changed the cam sensor and soldered on the mod top and now I want to do the crank sensor. Thought I'd check on here before I start taking things to bits.

Thanks

Its a bit of a bugger to get at on the 2.0....you need to work from below as its by teh aircon mounting bracket....it can JUST be done withou removing the mounting from the engine...

Yes it is a little sod to get to. I have been trying from the top, got the torx off, can move it round, but I cant get it out. I shall have another go tomorrow from underneath. Did try but aircon in the way, power steering in the way from the top. the V6 looks a better job.

Thanks

There is an O ring on the sensor which sticks in the hole, you need to apply a bit of leverage with a screwdriver etc then twist and it will pop out. Easier said than done. You can unbolt the aux. support casting to create more space but its a lot of work and some of the bolts are just as bad to reach as the crank sensor.
