Title: Is this normal
Post by: omegalyn on 05 April 2007, 13:02:10
Changed the Cam sensor last week on my 2.0 Ecotec 16V, had a good look at the cam belt as this needs changing soon.  I started the car to see what direction the belt runs and noticed that the pointer behind the belt tensioner was moveing from side to side. It's the arm you line-up with a markings on the backplate when adjusting the tentsioner. Is this the norm?

Thanks

Lyn

FYI I've done the belt a couple of times - pretty straightforward really.

Just please change the water pump at the same time as this is driven off the cambelt.

Lyn, Where in wales are you? I'm often in Wales myself, if it's anywhere nearby I could pop over and change the cambelt kit / water pump on your 4pot.. not a tricky job.....and I have the locking tool
