Title: Recommended tools..
Post by: devonian on 06 April 2007, 21:47:12
Hi guys, I really need to start thinking about doing a couple of jobs on my Meega, but have very limited tools...

Basically am going to need a torque wrench and reasonable socket set, but dont have a great deal of money. Dont want to get ripped off, so thought I would bung out this query and see if anyone can recommend a wrench and socket set?!

Dave :)

If you do a search Dave, there was a Halfords set recommended a while ago and a long thread on torque wrenches from Machine Mart.

Happy shopping  :y

Halfords professional 150 piece set is about the best of the bunch... Its £150 usually but often on sale at £99 has every needed for Omega, torx loads of sockets and spanners....

Try machine mart for parts  ;)

The Sealy torque wrenches are alledgely better than the Clarkes should by Machine Mart.

I have (most!!) of the 150pc Halfords ones. Great kit if you know its not perfect:

No adapters supplied, so need to add some 1/2 to 3/8 and 3/8 to 1/4 drive adpaters. A 1/4 to 3/8 drive adpater would also be useful.

The sockets aren't very deep, although deep sockets are included.

The spanners are quite narrow, and can dig in your hand a little.
