Title: Thermostat change
Post by: Martin_1962 on 10 April 2007, 19:52:46
Oh well I have a new one - now where is the old one, and how easy is it to change?

In the valley, at the front.  Plenum, intakes, injectors rails off and you can see it...

Incidentally, I just realised the camcovers on the top pic are odd... they seem to be metallic, or perhaps someone painted then silver?  :o

Oh - that's a bugger to change - wish I knew when I fitted the cut wiring.

Are there any bits I need apart from the L pipe, O ring and thermostat?

Just hope I can get the rail out as I can't unplug the injectors (Romano leads)

Looking at the bottom pic, I can now see clearly the metal breather box at the back of the engine... it seem to be mounted with for bolts at the base. Good job I didn't try to take it of then.....

Martin, it's not an awful job, but nimble fingers help!

If you need a hand (literally!) give me a yell, I'm only half hour away :)

I'll most probably be doing it Saturday afternoon (not sure yet), I wouldn't mind a hand - if only to a todo guide with pictures!

I am also expecting a nightmare with the injectors as the cut cables do not want to unplug (they don't have the release bit the car loom has), so it has to come out as one big lump.

Wel Sue has OKed Saturday afternoon - doing town in the morning Jack broke his glasses.

So if you can help James it would be appreciated.

It will be interesting to see if my plenum removal pipe routing does actually help!!
