Title: Which cam belt 56 36 363 or 56 36 563
Post by: omegalyn on 13 April 2007, 23:57:35
Hi there
Can anyone please help me out, bought a cam belt kit today, but the man in GM parts said that there was two kits, he let me take both and I can take one back one Monday (Nice).  The problem now is which one do I use?  The pulleys and tensioner are the same but the belts have different part numbers one is 56 36 363 and the other is 56 36 563.  Is it a valve thing (8 and 16) or is it an engine number thing.  I drive a X20XEV 16 Valve Auto P reg.

Thanks
Lyn

According to EPC, both Kat numbers are the belt (not kit) for X20XEV 2.0L 16v.

P/N 9128726 / Kat 56 36 563 is up to engine number 14195375/31029799 (the kit P/N for this is 93174260)

P/N 90531682 / Kat 56 36 363 is from engine number 14195376/31029800 (the kit P/N for this is 93174261)

(P/N - Part Number, Kat - Catalogue number)

Thanks Mark, my engine no is 3101****, so it's the 56 36 563 belt or kit 93174260 I should use. Just want to make sure, doing the job tomorrow.
Thanks..

That's according to EPC and the Trade Club book, personally I have a V6 so I don't know what is right for the 2.0L - I can only quote from the books... but yes, based on the literature and your engine number you are correct.

Yes, thats the earlier one....later power plants had balance shafts etc which makes the belt run a slightly different length....

What I saw was good, little dark in places.  Needed a voiceover (James' voice is too soft to hear easily on it), and an OOF watermark ;)

Job done, just got back from a nice spin down the coast, everything went ok. Only thing now is lost the one touch electric window, drivers side and no power sunroof. Is this because I disconnected the battery. somthing els to look into. But I took some pics of the job, see how thay come out, might do a how 2.

Yes windows and sunroof lost due to battery disconnection. Easy to sort.

With windows closed, press and hold each window button as though you were closing the windows for a couple of seconds. You should hear the relay very quietly click. Repeat for all of them.

With the sunroof closed simply push in the controller and hold for 5 seconds or so. It will move slightly as it resets itself.

Yep, had same problem after disconnection battery for the camcover job last weekend, followed LB's reset instructions and all is well  :y
