Title: TrafficMaster
Post by: Dean on 13 April 2007, 10:50:01
I have recently re-subscribed to traffic master however its not giving traffic info

When i press the button it says "trafficmaster" and i can change from manual mode to Auto mode and adjust the volume but thats it....no traffic information!

Does anybody know how i can test this thing (special menu's) or something - or has instructions?

Regards

Dean

Go and sit in a traffic jam and see what it tells you ;)

Sounds right to me, would say license expired otherwise.

Only had 2-3 months exposure to traffic master until it expired, not useful enough to us to renew it.

It may well be in Auto, just has nothing to say, presume the button LED is green as well now, not blank, goes red when there is a problem.

Only speaks when there is a local problem.

If you need it, I can probably dig out a manual over the weekend and scan if its not to big.

Thanks for the reply. I have done a 800 mile journey recently and it did'nt pipeup once... there is no illuminated green light on the switch. Does that mean its knackered!

Does sound like its not getting any info, should be a led build into the bottom of the switch that changes colour.

Ill try and dig out that manual.

If you go to the renwal page on the traffic master site, it details how to get its license number, which can only be done if yours has expired, so you could try that routine to prove if you have a license or not

i definately have a licence, i phoned trafficmaster and did it over the phone a few weeks ago, entered the new code etc and she said all was fine. explained how to do the manual and automatic mode thing and i assumed that was it.

Aswell as the green light you should get a bleep noise when you drive past the first blue mast you see at the side of most A roads.

no.... bugger what can be wrong with it then. I know its not the best system in the world but i like things to work when they are fitted!

If it just says 'Trafficmaster' and no green or red light, then it behaves as if it thinks it is working but does not receive any traffic data. If you are sure you are on roads that suppose to have Trafficmaster transmitters, then your box may be faulty (it is behind the kick-panel - iirc on the driver's side?), or maybe it lost it's aerial connection.

on both omegas I've had with it fitted, the box was cable tied to the heating duct above the pedals ...

If you hit the button at anytime it is green, it should tell you what road you are on and the direction of travel. e.g. If you are on the Motorway and hit the button, it will say " your are travelling north towards M1 junction 39" (hopefully only when you are). If it doesn't do this I would say its not working correctly.

I checked the traffic master unit today and all wires seem to be connected. looked under the glovebox and found these...

Onviously it had a mobile kit in it once..could this be why traffic master is not working? are any of these wires involved?

Thanks

very unlikely. That looks like a nokia car kit ... the only thing I'd expect to give problems would be if there was no power to the trafficmaster box, or if the wiring loom wasn't connected - but the fact that you get the announcement proves both of those.

Have you found the trafficmaster box yet, from memory the aerial cable has a BNC connector ... is that plugged in?
