hi im new on here :P ive got a blowing manifold on my 2.5v6 R reg omega on the drivers side one of my friends told me that they can crack when not aload to cool down is this true and someone also told me thats its just the gasget so what do i do :-[dont want to buy a 2nd one as it mite be cracked and what if i change the gasget and it still blows and a new manifold is way 2 much :o can anybody help ;)

Yes I can help.
Firstly I have a spare manifold that I know for a fact is no cracked, because it was on one of my cars.
Secondly, it COULD be a crack, but it's just as likely to be the gasket.. and even MORE likely a snapped stud in the head.... The V6 lump is VERY fussy about having all it's studs in place at the right torque..
Hence why I recently had to remove both heads, to drill broken studs... not an afternoons work ;D

Right.....lets put the record straight here....
On the V6, its unusual to get snapped studs, particularly after 97 manufacture year.
On the V6, its rare to get cracked manifolds.....unless explod!
It IS common to get gasket failure as they are a composite type arrangement, the Vx replacements are a multi layer metal version which are bomb proof...

You're right about the cracked manifold.. I've only ever seen one
I have personally speaking seen lots of snapped studs on V6 models... but in fairness they've all been 1995 M/N plate cars
What change happened in 97, which helped studs from not snapping?

I've seen a couple of snapped studs on newer cars (1998 and 2000) - the same stud in fact.
The stud furthest towards the rear of the car. I think I heard mine go.... very hot engine and giving it some... I suspect the manifold warped very slightly.
I've also seen that most V6 manifolds leak at the same point (gasket failure).

It always seems to be the ones at the rear!!
