				Help
Over the past few days I have noticed that when I start the car the fuel guage stays on empty, if I turn the motor off and re-start the guage will work normal, this does not happen every time, only the odd occassion.
There is plenty of fuel in the car.
Any ideas what it could be :-? :-?

possibly a bad connection? are you parked on a slope at all?

does it happen even when you know you got half a tank in?
-
Yep, park on a slope (drive) and even when I have half a tank.

well half a tank suggests its not the slope causing an inaccurate reading, unless its a 45 degree angle!!

i reckon loose connection somewhere unless a more experienced member might know better
-
I reckon you jump in. start the car and zoom off.  8-)

How do I know....because mine does the same thing.

Try starting the car before you put your seat belt on...that extra few seconds may be all it needs  :y

 Edit. But mine's not a DTI  :-[

I agree with Chopsdad, mine has aways done this since new, but only ever on the occasions I do a rapid keyturn/ignition and go. Works fine 99% of the time. I've always assumed operator error as it always occurs when I've set off so quickly.

 Good Luck

Mine does the same.....if under 1/4 full....it can read ok or empty on startup....mines a petrol tho....and i have no idea what causes it  :-[ I have checked a few earths around the rear light cluster but nothing wrong  :(

I find that if I have over half a tank, it behaves normally. Anything under a quarter and it really takes its time moving up.
