Title: Speedo and rev counter "issues"
Post by: meegaveesix on 26 April 2007, 19:35:10
What would potentially stop a speedo and rev counter from working?

My new (to me) Elite has no rev counter and the speedo doesn't register (although I can see the needle vibrating as it rests).  Mileometer and trip meter works ok - could it be a fuse issue, or likely to be contacts?

Worth checking contacts - if dash been out, sometimes they are not reseated properly...

Will check fuse 12 later.  Airbag light on as well so beginning to suspect that the clocks may have been out before.

Can someone clarify the phyiscal differecnes between the clocks on a pre and post mini facelift?

I have steering wheel controls and Xenons, but can't see a foglight indicator on the clocks, turned them on last night and nothing lit up on the clocks - I've also got no sports light on the clocks when the sports button is pressed on the auto box.

All the other lights come up and go off as they should....could someone have put a pre mini facelift set of clocks in or would they just not fit/work?

OK, checked fuse 12, all well there.  Started it up this morning and low and behold they worked again.  Took it for a drive and then came back.  Left it for a few hours and started it again - they were'nt working again.  Took the clocks out, cleaned and open the contacts and put back together - still nothing.  Think the clocks are shagged.

It sounds like the clocks have been changed....for the earlier and incorrect ones...

I have some spare V6 clocks..

Checked the clocks, definitely mini facelift - I'm just a muppet who can't see foglight indicators.

Fixed the lack of sports mode light - bulb had failed.

Think its time to look for a set of replacement clocks.  Are all the connections on the back the same on mini facelift?
