Title: New rear shocks
Post by: ducati-boy on 29 April 2007, 20:33:10
Having done all this work, I think the rear shocks could do with replacing. Should I go for OEM, or can anyone recommend something else?

There are many a good shock on the after market that are OE spec, that are far cheaper than Vauxhalls ;)
Try Borg or Bilstien etc.....But it does depend if yours are self leveling or not ::)

Is that the wire that runs up the shock and plugs in near the top?

Airline runs up and connects to rear shocks are self levelling.  These are tradeclub items, so get yourself a TC card ;)

Tradeclub provides genuine parts from your dealer at better than trade prices. Only certain items are on tradeclub, though other genuine parts normally cost trade.

It was set up for the trade to use genuine parts, and you need to be in the motor trade to get one, or belong to certain clubs.

autobahnstormers.co.uk is probably the most recommended club to join to get a TC card, and membership is £20 per year.  The savings can be good, for instance 4 x 5l semi synth oil for £30...

Yep - I recommend autobahnstormers! Very quick to send you your membership pack and trade card and Ive already saved about £200 quid on parts.... best £20 Ive spent in a while  ;)

You can easily ditch the self-levelling, but I strongly vote against Bilsteins for an Elite.  They are more suitable for an MV6 type ride.  I certainly wouldn't mix them with Elite shocks on the other end.
