Hi guys, ive just changed the ABS/TC Ecu (what a bas***d job) but i have a question.
on the MID compture in the dash there is an option that says 'speed'. is this supposed to give a true reading of your currant speed?
mine just says 1,2,or3mph all the time!
and my other question is why do Vauxhall say you need to change the complete ABS unit and ecu,and that it can't be done any other way!!??
it was a very hard job but got a boosh ecu and fitted the new ecu with removing the ABS unit or disconnecting the brake lines! and they wanted over a GRAND to do it!!! lol
hope everyones ok
Regards
Carl

That's average speed....
-
ok, but shouldn't it change from time to time then?
also do you know how ofter it takes the average?
thanks

It's average speed over distance, yours is probably starting at zero so may be pretty slow to update. You can re-set it any time (press & hold the other button on the stalk), try it when moving & you should see the difference.

If you havent gone very far since a reset then maybe your av speed is slow... I'd reset the counter (get Av speed up and then press and hold the far button on the stalk until it resets to zero) then go for a little drive. If your brakes are working ;) that is. After a short time it will start working - its very quick. Cant tell you how many miles needed but Im sure mine came up within a mile or two of resetting. HTH

Was this unit new or 2nd hand?
If it was 2nd hand it may be set up for the wrong car, get it on a tech2 and check it out, they need to be programmed for Engine Size and Transmission type.
It may well mean your ABS and TC do not work fully as designed as well.
If it was new, I would expect your TC light to be on.
Mine had a brand new one fitted, which had no programming, so I had no TC until programmed via tech2.
This is also detailed in the how to guide.

Yes, never worked out why you need to change the complete unit either......
Did you fit a new module.....if so it will need programming....
