Following on from my recent thread about the HBV I have discovered another issue.
After fitting the replacement part the other day fresh coolant was added and heat was top notch cabin got to sweltering.
This morning driving in I put the Heater on Max to get the cabin warmed up which it did but not to the same extent as sunday after refitting the HBV.
Before I came into work I checked the Rad and one side was cold I can only assume this has an air lock or something squeezed the top hose and air seems to be moving about the system same with the bottom pipe.
On sunday after fitting the HBV the Rad was flushed till clear water came from top and bottom hoses and the RAD is pretty new aswell fitted last year.
Can anyone suggest anything, I am thinking leave the coolant bottle cap off and leave to run whilst squeezing the hoses see if it releases the air lock or is/could it be a case of drain and refill again.
Any responses are much appreciated

i had a problem like this when i changed my coolant. at the bottom of the rad on the N/S there is a red bleed valve,try unscrewing this 2 turns and get someone else to rev the engine.
second to that the rad may be blocked,u can get a flush for them but if its blocked and has been for a while, a new rad may pay off! HTH

Red bleed valve do you mean the drain plug?
The rad has been on the car about 8-9months and still looks as clean as the day i fitted it, before I refilled with coolant it was flushed through so I could see clear water running through so to me imo it shouldn't be blocked guess air could have moved down the system and now causing the issue :-/

Run it with the header tank cap off until its hot....once the stat is open blip the throttle a few times whilst the heater is on max.....that should clear it fine.
Opening the drain vave wont help as its air you want to get out....which is lighter than water... :y

Well I drove the car back from work rather sedately till the engine had warmed up.
Pulled over lifted the bonnet slowly took the coolant lid off and turned vents to full.
Gave the throttle a couple of blips squeezed the top and bottom hoses a couple of times and the rad where I touched this morning was hot vents were pushing serious heat out, but I still am not sure if there is any more trapped air I guess this will go with time.
Top and bottom hoses got hot so i guess thats a good sign.
