Title: Non VX Brake pads and discs
Post by: benjamind on 08 May 2007, 23:41:23
Thinking of replacing front and rear brakes including discs is it a good move to use no VX parts. If so can anyone recommend a supplier/manufacturer who are relatively good and not too pricey. If NO how much should i expect to pay for VX parts.

Assuming yours are the solid (not vented) type, two rear discs/drums are £58.36 + VAT on TC (P/N 90444513)

The pads are £10.95+VAT (P/N 9192126) and the hand brake shoes are £37.72+VAT (P/N 90541931)

You could always make a short trip to Bury - I'm in the ABS & have a Trade Club card.  ;)  :y

Always put National discs and Lucas pads on ours , not had any issues with these to date, and relatively inexpensive especially compared to Vx prices.

I have some pattern discs/pads on the MV6. They are appalling. Stick to genuine for normal use.

I bought front discs from them (Rochdale) years ago for my 12v Senator (in those dark days before ABS had Trade Club use) and they lasted about 3/4000 miles. When I complained I was told that I'd fitted then incorrectly & weren't interested in the slightest  >:( Needless to say I haven't been back.

I put factor disks and pads on my Laguna and after a couple of K they were out of round and juddering like mad. No wear on them whatsoever but you either stump up and change them again or grin and bear it. Or sell the car and buy and Omega :y

I'm running on Brake engineering discs and ferodo pads.  No better or worse than VX.  The only reason I am using them is that I did not have a Trade club card at the time.  If I were you I'd go for VX

They must have changed suppliers since them dark days. I did over 70,000 miles on the last discs i got from them before i sold the car no problems at all, and no i dont work for them.
