Title: Rocker gasket leak
Post by: john1dart on 09 May 2007, 14:23:02
Firstly Hello to all as i'm new to the site.
After finding all the help i need on here I'll now be doing the above work myself as i'm a skilled engineer.
Are there an specialist tools i will need to replace rockers gaskets and clean crankshaft breather system?
should I clean the breather whist the top half of the engine is stripped down?
how long will this take start to finished?
any help will be greatly recieved.
Kind regards

I forgot to mention the car. its a 1996 2.5 V6 CD

If you look in the Maintence section you will find Beather cleaning, also Mark has done a section on Cam Cover Gaskets :y

Welcome John!

Apart from a selection of torx bits,  a big spanner (adjustable) is useful to disconnect the EGR pipe, and a torque wrench that goes down to 8Nm for the camcover bolts.

Loads of carb cleaner for the breather cleaning.

Oh and I forgot the double jointed knees and the extra hand ;D ;D

Cheers,
Ian

Toally agree..only use genuine Vauxhall gaskets/"o" rings and Black sealant..that way they should stay oil tight....I speak from several bad experiences with after market parts,,,good luck
