Post by: Glib on 15 May 2007, 12:02:29
Hi Sounds like fun don't it  :y
would i need to totaly rebuild my 120000 mile engine to fit it?? :'(
And what about brakes :-/
Also any ideas on stiffening up the suspention (not neccessarily lowering it)
I await your humble opinions :D ::)

have read plenty about this though ........ problem you have is the conrods on 3.0 are the weak point due to their lack of width! :'( thats why everyone seems to agree on 250bhp being the max for this engine reliably... and cost effectivly....

so as for NOS i did read some guy putting 100bhp through his at santapod so was making in region of 350bhp :o on just a standard / mild state of tune engine... prob is how long it lasted i dont know and he did say clutch was no way up to it.... :'(

it can prove to be expensive as well as it seems NOS is around the £5 a pound to fill .. average bottle 11lb.. so call it £50 and prob lasta couple mins tops........ my old 325 Msport had 75bhp jets and full to empty in 1min 40 sec's!!!!!!

Dont get me wrong The engine has been tuned up to around 420BHP in a normally aspirated state of tune by Swindon Race Engines though this will set you back £18k + vat :o

oh yeah forgot brakes...... well either go mad and get some AP's ...... or simply upgrade discs and pads to something like EBC redstuff pads and cross drilled disc's.... for best value.... was told get some GTO calipers as they fit straight on and are twin piston supposed to normal single piston.......

me id get EBC discs and pads front and get hold of some later 2.6 / 3.2 rear calipers and discs as these are vented and not solid type.....

suspension well ... i have coilovers on mine and i would see this is by far the best set up.....BUT belive me not cheap!!!!!!!! :'( ... cost effective get some uprated springs / shocks and this will def help. :y

oh and 380mm braking system... apparently... ::)
