Title: Alarm goes off when its sunny
Post by: jack2uk on 20 May 2007, 18:35:26
Hi all, been having a problem with the alarm going off when its in direct sunlight, been going off several times within an hour, it used to do this last summer ocassionally but not as bad as now. Any ideas of cause or where are the sensors and can they be altered?
Thank you.

Check the bonnet switch is adjusted properly - the large bonnet distorts slightly in the heat, this causes the switch to operate.

Ok thanks for  that, actually it has spent last week in garage for new coil pack and cam shaft sensor so they might have disturbed it.
Thanks

More likely the Bonnet Sensor.

It will be the bonnet sensor.

It is at the back of the engine bay on the right. Quite easy to spot. Just unplug it.

Yep, bonnet sensor. ESPECIALLY if some numpty twot garage monkey has been at it! Bend the switch up a bit or just tape the damned thing down.
