Title: Engine management light

I had a erm, 'race' today with a 3.0 tdi audi A6 quattro, bugger they are fast!
Anyway just after my engine management light come on for about 5 mins but
then went out and its been ok since.
what could cause that?

First thing to do is read the codes, then the more knowledgable guys here can help you  :y

If you don't know how to read the codes, use the search facility at the top of the page  :)

Read the fault codes and it will tell you what the problem was - the faults are kept for a while.

I've seen O2 sensors log an error when they get very hot, then recover later.

the amber engine light came on to tell you  not to race large diesel engined german cars >:(.... You never said who won ;)

It was scared and the orange light is just an attempt at sympathy :-/  As some one on here often says "drive it like you stole it" ;)

Paperlclip test for stored codes will certainly help, but if it's not come on again, it's nothing to worry too much about.  :y
