Is there anyway to tell what sets off your alarm or reduce the sensitivity of the inside sensors of it.
As mine has started going off most of the time with no reason which is becoming really annoying.

its a 2000 face lift omega 2.5 cdx if this helps
-
could be related the bonnet sensor, going off previous alarm threads
-
how do i check this??
rubbish with electrickery.

this is where we are at another problem :( i know this purely from what i've seen on here, from the guys who know, therefore i dont have a clue where to find the sensor!
i'm sure someone will come along to assist you more greatly, or possibly offer you more suggestions of what might cause it if it turns out not to be that.
also i should mention, mine doesnt have an alarm!

Try pressing the button on the dash to switch off the movement sensors before you lock the car. If the alarm doesn't go off it's either the ultrasonic movement detectors or the tilt / shock sensor.
If it does still go off, try disconnecting the wiring connector from the bonnet switch and, again, see if it goes off.
It it still goes off, I'd have a look at each of the pillar switches in the doors and make sure the contacts are clean and that they are not loose.
When the alarm sounds is it both the horn and the electronic siren, combined with flashing indicators or just the electronic siren?

Usual culprit is the bonnet switch, its mounting bracket can get bent when working on the engine. It lives on a bracket by the power steering reservoir, simply unplug it to eliminate it. To adjust the bracket, put a bit of grease on the top of the switch then close the bonnet. The grease mark should be on a flat part of the bonnet, not on a curved edge. Bend bracket to adjust.

It's over the other side on mine, between the brake master cylinder and the coolant header tank.

Will check thanks. did do a rocker cover gasket change recently so i might of knocked the switch.
So if i understand correctly if it is the bonnet switch then just disconnecting will disable this sensor and the alarm wont sound if this is the culprit.
The horn siren and indicators flash.

This is correct. The bonnet switch is "make when open" so disconnecting it just disables it.
If horn and indicators go off it's an indication that the alarm has been properly triggered by one of the sensors and it's not just the "power sounder" that's getting upset.

I found I could dismantle and clean the bonnet switch quite easily. Use a little switch cleaner on the contacts then re-assemble. I put a self-adhesive foam pad on the bonnet where it contacted too, just in case. Didn't help in my case >:(
