Title: Leaking water/heater matrix? 3.0 or 3.2?
Post by: Dynashift on 04 June 2007, 10:07:44
Hello everyone!

Just in the process of buying an 3.0 or 3.2 v6 elite.
Having in the past owned a Vectra C 3.2 which had a water leak in the heater matrix area at 60k.

Is the 3.2 more prone to this than the 3.0

Mine was done under warranty.

I know its commonly mistaken as head gasket fault.

Thanks

heater matrix is generally reliable on the Omega (and Vectra).  Failure, in my opinion, would indicate poor servicing, esp wrt coolant.

Do you realy mean heater matrix (i.e. cabin heater) or oil cooler (i.e. oil to water heat exchanger in the valley)

If the latter, the two are the same on both engines and the secret to longevity for this item is correct servicing i.e. 50:50 water/antifreeze mix changed every two years....
