Title: has my HBV failed?
Post by: jonathanh on 09 June 2007, 10:20:40
I'm not getting any coolant loss but.....

Generally get slightly warm air through the vent even when temperature is set to cold.  Aircon fitted but not climate.  When I use aircon it is cold but not freezing as you would expect

I've checked the two pipes that come through the bulkhead to the heater matrix - these are very hot even with the temperature controls set to cold throughout since starting up

I ask because I'm having a new windscreen fitted and I can swap the hbv when the scuttle is off

Opinions?

Taking the scuttle off is pretty easy really so I wouldn't complicate a windscreen change.

I think your air con just needs a re-gas.

don't think it is an aircon problem as I get warm air without aircon not outside temperature air.

Have you checked the vac pipes that feed the heater controls? The heater valves are moved by vacuum so a leak may be stopping the heater from going to cold.
