2001 CDX 2.2 Auto.
Had a strange occurance with my autobox the other day, driving along on the M6 at a steady 60 ish for about 10 miles when suddenly the autobox went in neutral all on its own with out me touching the gear stick. The revs went up for a second before I realised something was up and lifted off the immediatly the box went into limp mode and drive was restored and the light with the spanner came on. Got off the M6 turned ignition off then started engine . Light had gone out and normal power was returned. Not happened before or since.
Read codes today and came up with
P1781 CAN data bus, ECM actual torque signal- Malfuntion detected
P0705 Transmission range (T/R) sensor/switch, PRNDL input-circuit malfunction
P0730 Incorrect gear ratio
Any ideas as to what caused this would be greatly appreciated.

Weird one.
First thing is check the alternator output voltage.
With the engine running, use a multimeter. Test at idle then at high revs.
Should be between 13v and 14.4v. Over 15v and regulator is goosed which will casue a problem like that.
Could well be the selector swich playing up, but unlikely as problem would be more frequent.
After that I would check and probably change the gearbox oil and filter.

I did have to strip and clean the delector switch a few moths back....it had got some water in driving on some very flooded roads but the symptoms then were very different....selector indicators lit up like a christmas tree!!
Hadnt thought about the alternator angle but thats easy enough to check so will do and I suppose at 76000 its probably due for a Gbox oil change.
Just seems weird to have happened only once
