Post by: Old Sweat-RIPscoob on 10 June 2007, 10:50:59
I had a quick look ast night in the dark but could not find the gearbox oil dipstick, or where to top it up with gearbox oil  :-?

Am I blind or missing something, my auto box warning came up on my dash display, so thats why I wanted to check it

I have a X reg 2000 2.2 petrol

Can anyone help, Cheers  :y

There isn't a dip-stick for the engine oil ........ another nice design feature missed completely by Vx. >:(  >:(

There should be a bolt on the upper quarter, if the oil is just about overflowing when you remove this then the fluid level is fine.

I'm sure theres a picture of said bolt around this forum somewhere I'll go and have a look.

I think you mean gearbox oil dipstick  ;D

Anyway I also noticed today my engine oil was very low on the engine dipstick, so I put a litre in and the autobox warning on my dash display went off and has not appeared again...........................................................so my question is does the engine and gearbox use the same oil as there appears to be no entry point to put gearbox fluid in  :o

Totally seperate. engine needs 10/40 semi synth, gearbox uses Dextron 3.

No dipstick for gearbox oil, have to get under and remove filler plug.

There is a HOW2 by Mark in the maintenance section from the homepage...
