Title: fault code reading
Post by: Raf on 08 June 2007, 14:06:04
Hi all; ive still not got anywhere with the problems im having with my car http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1177080258.

i feel it maybe that the when the EML light comes on at around 3500 rpm and then goes out it may not be recording the fault? if this is a possibility? then is it possible to ask the mechanic to plug the scanner tool in whilst its being driven and check that way?

Not sure on the Omega, But when i Had my old Frontera it had the light keep coming on then going of, went to vauxhall, The mechanic told me there, that if the light is on for less than 30 secs, it stores no codes.

Hope this is of use.   :)

I think its 5s, though some codes are stored even with EML coming on...

excellent; thanks gents... that could be it as my light doesnt light up for long (less than 5 secs anyway)... so if i can get the codes read whilst on the move i may have another avenue to explore.

im hoping this time it will point me in the right direction. i.e. code Pxxxx : Change your blimmin xxxxx sensor  :)

many thanks again.

Had this with my parents veccy B.  about 10 minutes into a journey the car would jerk the EML would come on but then it would run normally.  No code stored.  Vx couldn't help, mobile mechanic couldn't help (thought it was MAF sensor.....)

Finally decided to swap the crank sensor which was the problem because the wires going into it were burnt through.

Never had a problem with my omega but I would say that the crank sensor and the cam sensor are fair guesses for the cause

cheers jonathon; going to see if i can get codes read on the move; i have to tax it first as i just realised the tax ran out end of May so i cant pull the car off the drive  :(

a part of me hopes the month or so its spent parked up may have made it better but i know that wont be the case.

i'll let you know what the rolling road code reading brings up.... i hope it does bring something conclusive up  ::)
