Title: 2.2 Dti again!
Post by: Merlin on 16 June 2007, 12:21:40
Hi guys (again). Sure youve all read my posts over the last week or so. The car is still in limp mode and I ve had some good suggestions from you. Going to investigate today (been working away), Just to recap, I have codes P1590. P1335 and P0725. Ive had a few good suggestions ie, crank sensor etc but one thing is puzzling me (well, two now). If a sensor packs in is it generally knackered completely? I ask this because the car will always drive the first mile or so (when cold) perfectly - then the eml kicks in and back to limp mode? Makes me think either temperature or emmissions build up. Temp reading is fine. BUT! - after having this for over a week, I left work at midnight last Thursday night when he had that bad rain and after a few hundred yards I hit a deep puddle that must have drowned the engine (diesel so not too bad). Now when I got to the usual place where the eml kicks in and limp mode starts, as usual, the eml came on, but 3 or 4 seconds later it went off and I managed to drive the next 7 miles unrestricted before limp mode came back - first time that happened in over a week!!!
So my question is - is there anything underneath the car (wiring?) that could be loose. I mean do you guys know of any weak spots the car may have? Im thinking wiring so any suggestions? Got me wondering if the puddle I went through just moved something!

Sorry, I know nothing about the 2.2DTi engine.

If it helps, the v6 crank sensors seem to play up when warm - eg it will start, run for a bit, then die (v6 wont run if no crank sensor), and not start. Once cooled a little, will start and run for a bit longer and die again....

Thanks The Boy. Seems interesting, is there any way to check if the crank sensor is knackered?

check volt between batt terminals rev upto 3000 rpm at norm running temp
volts should be 13.5-14.5v if yes . to next step

ing off disconect ecu
conect a 55w bulb (headlamp bulb terminals 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock in parallel with multimeter to terminal 39 on wireside of harness and earth should be greater than 11v

next conect lamp and multi to terminal 1 to pos batt volts should be more than 11v same withterminal 2 both should be more than 11v

if all tests are ok then its ecu
if not get back to me
i hope it helps
my omega is the ecu itself, waiting for vauxhall to get back to me with a price, i think he said he had to wait for steven hawkins to work out price ;D

This is one power plant I have not had exposure to....

Can I sudgest you get in touch with Jim Grayson on www.vauxhallmechanics.co.uk as his knowledge of these is much greater than mine.
