Try ClarCE. He was breaking a V6 (I am not sure if 3.0 camcovers are the same as 2.5, or indeed what his is).
-
cheers for that, have left a parts request in the relevant section.
-
Have you tried user Las_Jacarandas, there in heathrow and can be contacted as follows:

i have,and there checking as i write this,thanks
ps vauxhall want £96 for cam cover and oil filler (does come with gaskets )
-
I would pm ClarCE if you're interested. That way he gets an email if he's got it set up, rather than hoping he'll check the parts wanted section.
-
will also e-mail ClarCE and see if he has one, cheers :y

I'm not really asleep, honest.. not only are kit cars taking over my life, but now we've put a pool in the back garden (as well as an omega :-?)
I have what you want mahony, obviously they're still on the car at the mo. PM me an offer and whether you'd want it posted or if you'll pick it up..
Cheers,
Chris.

My commision is very modest Chris.. ;)
How's the kit car?
-
are you replacing them with metal ones? I bought a pair from a vectra forum for 20 quid and they go straight on.

except the oil filler is wrong ::)
-
still works though! I fitted them with the filler on the drivers side at the back, a bit more fiddly to get the oil in but well worth the effort not to have leaking covers, ever!

Done properly, the Omega ones are not prone to failure once replaced. With proper care, they should only have to be changed once as a maximum.
Blocked breathers are the biggest enemy, and I would rather it blew a cam gasket than a crank seal one if oil pressure gets too high due to breathers....
-
so why do saab (the gm v6 ones) vectras calibras etc all have metal ones?

The cynic in me says that they are unlikely to fail in the first 60 - 80k, and what happens after is of no concern to Vauxhall.... ....a bit like 20k oil changes when NO motor oil lasts beyond 7 - 9k

'tis true. Seal up a crankcase and the blowby gases WILL exit somewhere and the cam cover gaskets are the least hassle of all the possibilities! Clean breathers are the answer.

The manufacturer will always use the cheapest solution to the problem. Vx obviously thought the plastic cam covers were good enough, and they probably passed all their development tests.

I remain unconvinced that the plastic ones have less rigidity, though the metal ones have larger gasket area...
