Right! Am gonna change the oil and filter today!
Now bearing in mind that the last engine I worked on was a Vauxhall Viva ;D 20 years ago :-? And aint looked at an engine since!
So, what do I need, and is it easy for a donkey to do! ;D
-
What you will need is an extra litre of semi-synth, five litres is gonna leave it a bit short :-/
-
Done that, 5.75L the book says! So got another tub.

Have a read of this maintenance guide:
How to change the oil on a V6 (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1167519662)

Ow yes, I wouldn't prime the filter with oil, it will only end up down your arm when you fit it....
-
Oooo, cheers for that, will let you know if i break owt! ;D
-
No filter removel tool here! Recon its ok to stick a screwdriver through it and twist it off :question
-
No not really, go to any motor factors and get a chain wrench for undoing the filter......much better and less messy job ;)
-
You may even be able to untwist it by hand if you get a good grip..
-
Just went to move the car, moved it, and when I put it back into park, it stalled!
On starting back up the airbag light and the ABS light are on, took it for a spin, still on?
Any ideas, or is it an Omega quirk ;)
-
Leave it a while and try again........if not disconnect the battery and leave for a couple of hours and try again. Make sure that you have the radio code before you disconnect the battery.
-
Have you tried it again :question
-
If I stall and restart the airbag light does stay on but only for a few seconds.

If a screwdriver worked on the Viva it will still work 20 years on - just a bit messy that's all. :y

those bit gas/plumbers wrenches work if they open wide enough....
