On the Elite there is a multiplug in the boot, this has a live on it when the fuse is fitted under the steering wheel fuse box... use a voltage sensing fridge/charge relay "et voila!" sorted.... Towsure sell the relays....

I also an Astra that came with a towbar and the indicators have been wired using a buzzer in the boot. I've only towed a trailer to the tip a couple of times with it & I found it to be bloody anoying. Far better to just replace the original 3 pin indicator relay with a 4 pin elay and put a lamp in the dash - probably as easy too!
12S socket wiring depends slightly on the age of your van. From about 98,as fridges have got bigger thereforerequiring a bit more power, they have their own 'earth' return/0 volts to the car via the black wire of the grey cable. Google will point you in the right direction!

I used the original wire to drive the 6 way relay and laid a new thick wire for the charger and fridge
