Questions -
Where is the drain plug
Where is the filler
What's the capacity
What type of oil to use
Any other useful tips!
Going to treat the estate to a gearbox oil change, once I sort out the oil leak...

Do you change the oil in a manual Gear Box I thought you never had to. As it not like an Auto Box
Lets See How Wrong I am lol

Its worth considering....
The drain plug is on the bottom at the rear, the level plug is on the drivers side.
Drain the oil and then fill with about 1 litre until the oil is 8mm (from memory) below the level plug......then drive it a bit and drain the oil again, re-fill as before and then its job done.
You need to do the first stage on earlier cars to flush the old stuff out which is different to the latest oil.
And the oil is Vx only......its NOT ordinary hypoid!

It only takes about a litre then??!

just drained mine. It had exactly 1.2 litres. So I topped up with exactly the same amount for the flush fill.
I haven't drained to refill again yet so I do not know how close that is to being 8mm below the fill hole. However, when I do refill I will measure it again as a rough guide for all here.

Filling: I recommend getting about 1 metre of clear plastic tube (12mm) plus a funnel. Made refilling very easy: without that a complete PIA.
Drain and fill plug is 9mm hex
Dont forget to clear the crap of the magnet in the drain plug

Well How about that A Mechanic who lied to me again lol
Is that the same with a 2.0l gear box.

Not used in Omega manual boxes though.... ....in fact a much thicker oil.
