Title: What's mini facelift?
Post by: keolsen on 30 June 2007, 00:44:43
Maybe a silly question, but what does mini facelift include? How do I see if my car is a mini facelift...
I can see form the FAQ that the mini facelift was introduced in 1998 with satnav and ccr800 bose sound system...which my 1997 model has...is my car then a mini facelifted?

Solid headrests, side airbags are a clue ;)

I think mini-facelift started late 1997, but not sure.

And yes, side airbags on front seats are a give-away, as well as 'projector' type headlamps, and radio controls on steering wheel...

There was also a difference in the Vx badge - it used to be flat enamel with black background, and changed to the current one.

Mini facelift is model year (MY) 1998 on, which appeared mid to late 1997.  To really know, check the VIN - if the 7th from last digit is a W or X, then minifacelift (full facelift starts at Y), if its R,S,T or V its pre mini facelift.

controls for the radio on steering wheel = mini facelift

no controls = pre-mini facelift

yes lots of clues

remote stereo controls
solid headrests
clear headlights
side airbags

etc etc

but these can be retrofitted (even if not working - eg, someone fitting leather etc), so vin is true check...
