I assume you mean the followers given that Vx havn't made a tappet based engine for about 15 years (unlike Ford)

The ideal would be to check the oil pressure to ensure there is no loss of pressure.

Alternatively, a good oil change and possibly a dose of Wynns lifter treatment might be in order.

try the wynns stuff put it in when the engine is warm run the car for 500 miles then replace oil and filter for vauxhall stuff

Pete - I'm having similar issues too!  If I have a close listen while the engine is ticking over I can hear reasonably loud ticking noises from the cam shaft/injector area.  It seems to be coming from under the plenum chamber.

I originally thought it was noisy injectors / exhaust manifold but having read this I suspect what Mark_DTM diagnosed!

I’ll try some Wynn’s treatment if that’s what the experts advise.  I would also look forward to improve MPG as mine gives me around 24.5 (mixed) whereas I’m sure I was getting 29 when I bought the car.  Failing that maybe my blowing back box is kerbing my MPG?

Cheers fellas
