The engine hesitated a bit when starting today. After that the engine control light (yellow licht with an engine silhouette on it) wouldn't go off.
The enginge runs like charm and starts without problems.
I tried disconnecting the battery to see if the that would reset it, but the light still looks back scornfully at me.
Any suggestions?
Thanx!

Hello mate. If the EML is lit then there is definately a fault somewhere. You obviously cant do a paperclip test so I guess you will have to get the fault read somewhere local.
If it is something like, say, a knock sensor, you may not notice too much difference in the performance (I know I didn't).
Sorry I cant suggest anything more concrete.

I think you are gonna have to get the codes read as i dont think you can paperclip a facelift. FWIW it may be cam or crank sensor

Facelift 2.2 or 2.6/3.2 for that matter......the smybol of the engine is the emissions light.....EML is piccy of car with spanner sticking thro its roof.
So its saying you've got an emissions problem......ok to drive like this unless it flashes then possible damage to cat may occur.
You really need to get the codes read as others advise to see if it gives a clue to whats wrong.
Remember tho that any codes complaining about sensor problems......it may not be the sensor and something else causing the sensor to be complaining.

Correct, emmissions problem. A code reader will say why ECU thinks it has a problem.

An emissions problem seem probable. Espescially since the engine ha started drinking oil (approx 1 lit./1000 miles) :-[
I guess I'll have to drag my beloved Omega down to the evil Vauxhall dealer and get the codes read, then.
Thanks for your help! :)

Out of curiosity, what is a paperclip test? My english is failing me here.
I'm guessing it's a way of doing a reset of the error code memory, or so? How is it done? (even though it can't be done on mine)

Paperclip test cannot be done on your 2.2 :(
Its a way of reading codes on older Omegas.

Suddenly, the EML isn't on anymore. Keep my fingers crossed that it won't come on again.
I guess there's no point in trying to read error codes that probably aren't there anymore?

It should be stored in the ECU if you want to find out why it was on...

Ok, so the error history stores in the ECU. Good thing, then I'll check it.
Thanks!
