can anyone tell me when getting a used MID
does it have to come from a car of the same year to work

No, but there are differences - pre minifacelift (1998) have a black and a yellow connector, have Radio info line above Computer lines.  Common to have duff pixels.

Minifacelift and facelift have a single grey connector, have Radio info line below computer lines, have extra functions (trip distance and trip consumption, and display 'Check Brakelight' rather than just light up CHECK indicator until you press brake)


Additionally, it either needs to come off the same configuration car (engine, gearbox, tyre sizes, HIDs etc), or it will need reprogramming with a Tech2 scanner.

i have a 94 omega the one im looking at is from a 95 omega
same serial number and same connectors
would that need reprogramming

It will need preogramming unless its from a car with the same engine and gearbox type...
