Hi oil cooler has definitely gone in a big way, flushed the cooling system out,
took it for a drive about 6 miles just as i got home the temp went through the roof
and the top hose has split halfway from the engine, i have a pretty pattern all over my engine
and in a loverly shade of baby poo. don`t think there`s much oil left.
oh wel on to tomorrow to see how good these engine really are.
If you find Oil in your water don`t use it,get down to VX and get an oil cooler
Only £90.50 + vat don`t get fob off with £230+ as the price has been reduced.

you have replaced the oil cooler then? - Don't go driving around with the oil cooler still failed! :o
To get the coolant system clean, put some thin bleach in the coolant (50/50) mix with water, and run or drive the car for 20 mins or so. Not much longer. Then flush well with clean fresh water, should get rid of all that nasty oil in there :y

Did my friends about 6 weeks ago....N plate,with cooler,all seals,forte flush,anti freeze,oil and filter he didn't get much change out of £300,his dad went loopy because he spent that amount of cash on it!

Not sure,have to check but think the cooler on it's own was £230

Yes going to have a go tomorrow there`s a how on VXon plus when i changed the engine i stripped the old one down
to see how it went together, got a clean breather plenum and throttle bodies to go on so one job less to do.

Your mate bought the wrong part codes (individual)....could have saved best part of 150 quid....

Ask us on here if you hae questions through the day, and best peice of advice i can give, ( Mr DTM and many others willl know exctly whats about to follow............)
Dont bend the pipes ;)
And those hollow nuts, replace dont refit :)

As stated, do NOT bend the pipes - undo the oil pipes near filter. You need a crowfoot spanner to do this.
I ignored the advice, bent the pipes. What an absolute pig to reassemble, and all the friggin loosened the pipes at bottom anyway, so still had to take them off there.

The price has not been reduced as that is the cost of the individual items but, there is another part code which is listed on a tech bulletin which contains a kit which is MUCH cheaper.

When I bought mine, parts guy said these used to be 250 odd quid, much cheaper now!

hi, managed to strip it down today, easyer than what i thought god what a mess mayo every where, what the best way to clean up
as i read somewhere you should`nt power wash the engine is that right, i`ve wiped what i can. The rad is still oozing mayo,
been blowing down a pipe seen to have most of it out, is there a recommended way or product for cleaning out the
pipes other than taking them off?

Forte do a special coolant flush for aftermath of oil cooler failures, but firstly use a hose and flush the rad through, and the engine block through....
Expect to flush it through a few times though...

which reminds me, after my jaunt to Bournemouth and my weekend getting the vectra ready im back to the bloody oil cooler veccy radiator.....
starting to wonder what will be perfect first, your tractor or my veccy :o :-/

Actually, engine wise, the tractor seems to be pretty good now....

All back together, took a bit of time to get back oil pipe on, everything else was easy,
now the only thing is to flush cooling sys through, heater matrix took a while to clear so
out with the hose and has moved it all , just need to get some antifreeze, where is it best
to get if from and do an oil change. It started on the second turn and is running well,
lets hope there are no leaks anywhere?

I use Vauxhall Red antifreeze, and Vauxhall semi synth oil - dirt cheap from dealer if you have a Trade Club card.
You need to flush the coolant daily for a few days, then weekly, etc etc, that oil will keep coming out of coolant...

All done and running well again, still need to keep flushing there seem to be lot of sludge in the system,
going to get forte flush on monday, found out why coolant level kept coming on , the bit inside the
expansion was clogged up and kept sticking. one less warning to worry about.
Next job front shockers disc`s and pads nice and easy and then a tow bar.
