-
Not had cam sensor problem yet, around 300,000 miles in 2 V6's, third V6 recently bought with 225,000, just changed crank position sensor.
-
had mine replaced on 145,000 miles ,on 158,000 now, mine the eml came on still run but every now and again would misfire ,did it only for one day got it sorted the next day no probs since with it :y :y :y
-
i just seem to have nothing but trouble wi my 2.0 16v cdx
problem after problem cam sensor justone of many that always seems to be getting a mention lol
-
it's a pain cause it causes engine to limit at 4500rpm buti need the extra rpm!!!! lol
-
Cam sensor failure only happens on the 4 pots.....yet to see one on the V6 (although I have seen some heavy handed people damage them!)
-
mine seems pretty reliable,in four years changed alternator £80,cam sensor, cleaned icv and breathers, brakes all renewed, hand brake cable, back subframe mount bushes, rear coil springs, front wishbones, front drop links, track rod ends, only big thing to go was timming belt cost me £380 to have repaired, water pump snapped belt, but engine has been mechincally sound for past four years, also to add ,did timming belt and tensioners last year again better to be safe now than sorry :y :y :y

There is a modified sensor for the Simtec systems now.................
-
Its actualy the wiring and connector that were modified.....hence why it comes with an extra bit of loom.
-
what difference does the modified sensor make?
-
less prone to failure (hopefully!)
-
Cam sensor failures are unheard of on v6 models. However, 4 pot owners will suffer one at some point.
The modification is the wiring to stops spikes - the sensor is still equally prone to failure.
-
roughly how often will cam sensor go?
is it going to be every other week then???
lol

camshaft faults, never. cam sensor faults, common on 4 pots, rare on v6
-
So far mine has been changed twice in the past year or so, the first sensor failed after 6months so it was replaced again under warranty which was a bonus, its been fine since. :y

Up to now no problem..And hope will not be .. ::)

On the Vectras i've had (with X20XEV's) the Cam sensor used to fail at about every 40K.... don't know what was significant about that mileage but it was an easy job to replace.
