Title: Which sensor is this then?
Post by: Owen on 21 July 2007, 16:35:57
Changing the pads today and on the pasanger side found this neatly tucked away.

A sensor, but which one? What exactly is it?

You'll be very lucky to remove a sensor from a scrap yard car without breaking the pin off, and have what you already have. ;) I wouldn't worry about it untill you next change your brake pads, later cars only have the one sensor anyway.

There was a horrible sound under braking, exactly like very low pads, went out and bought a new set to pop on and when I got the wheels off the disks and pads were new. Always handy to have a spare set i guess.

But the sound, which sounded exactly like very low pads starting to grind a little, is still there, and would apear nowt to do with the pads and disks!
Done the idler arm recently and I know its all tight under there, so I am not sure what could be causing the sound

Small stone wedged between the caliper & disc?

Very likely I would say - I had exactly this on an Astra that I owned once.

Well I had the calipers off yesturday so if owt was in there i recon it might have gone.
Strange thing i noticed today is that the pasenger side front tyre is getting really chewed up evenly accross the tread.

Toe in or Toe out - it is wheel alignment.  Search for wheels in motion and you will find a good place to get it sorted!

Right, gotcha. Had the tracking checked and was fine, also wheels ballanced. But there is a bit of a wobble between 75 and 85.

Also when this noise is there, when pulling away or braking,  you can feel it through the wheel!

Omega is very fussy about balancing, so may still be an issue if not done perfectly, and would explain the wobble.

Though also check wheel bearings, and any other play in suspension/steering
