I've got a couple of problems with my omega
Firstly, Its started cutting out when I pull up to a junction or at traffic lights etc, but it starts straight away after
Second, The power steering is really heavy when I dont give the car some revs, is this normal or is something wrong

Read this on your idling problem and also the guide on cleaning throttle body/breathers/idle control valve on a 2.2 (2.0 is very similar). This is a universal problem on the 2L engine, but easily solved. Just a bit of work.

Is the power steering fluid up to the mark?
-
the fluid is up to the mark

The Stalling problem is an easy fix if its just breathers and ICV need cleaning could also be a air leak check around for hissing sounds
But it sounds like your power steering pump is on its way out you may need another one
-
As above, clean the ICV, thats the good news :)
Bad news is the PAS pump sounds like it is at the end of its life :(

Some models have a relay in the drivers footwell kick panal,as steering is electrically assisted.the relay has been known to intermit fail causing heavy feel when parking.
Check to see if your model is this type, and change the relay first.[much cheaper than a new pas pump]

Ah, no, thats to do with the speed sensitive PAS (which is still hydraulic), not fitted to OP's 2.0l car....
-
V6's have Servotronic speed sensitive system, 4 pots don't.
'NML' has a 4 pot according to his profile.

Beat me by a minute, 'The Boy'. :)

Thats the name of it 'servotronic' i knew i was'nt talking bull, but must admit did not look at his model. ::)
