Hi there, I changed my cam belt about 5ks ago, full kit and waterpump, do I need to recheck the tension and make sure that the tensioner is still pointing at the new belt mark, and what if it’s not?
Thanks
Lyn

Do you think you've got problems with it? I don't believe it should be necessary to do an intermediate check if it was done right in the first instance.

Hi there Tafty, I did it by the book, it’s just that I had the cover off today to locate an oil leak (cam cover gasket again) so whilst the cover was off lined up all the markings and noticed that the tensioner arm was not at new belt position , just a bit to the left. Is this ok ?
Thanks

You're tensioners going to move with the belt wearing in. Though to how much 5K miles will make to the position am not sure - one of the others will have to advise you Lyn - hopefully soon.

As long as the marker is between the new belt and the old belt markings then you are spot on matey ;)

With you saying your "cam cover gasket again" - have you cleaned out the breather system as a root cause rather than do the cover gaskets again and again - RMcB's how to explanation is very educational - was for me. :y

Yes it is Dazzler, thanks for putting my mind at rest. and yes Tafty breathers ICV and throttle body clean, just not a gm cam cover gasket.
Thanks again
