:o Yours??
-
Yes ;D
Love it 8-)
-
is that yours?? what uni course was that for?
I love how you're trying to tow a big orange van even though your rear wheels dont touch the floor
did the front wheel drive conversion cost much??
;D ;D ;D
-
Yeah thats mine ;D ;D ;D I didn't actually do a FWD conversion, I just tied some reigns to the RAC bloke and made him pull it like a horse & cart - he was just taking a breather at that moment in time :) (and trying to escape >:( )
Course is Computer Games Tech, repeating the 2nd year, so its a perfect way to start it :y

I'm guessing that you didn't take my general advice the other day that all v6 owners should paperclip their cars, and hence you didn't know your cranksensor was going to fail?

:D Unless the crank sensor causes the engine to become a Sauna then no ;D

What was the problem in the end mate? Do you ever get down my way?

Very rarely - I'm pretty much next door to Pete tho...
Not too sure on the problem yet... The RAC bloke suggested a few things...
Possible HBV giving in a bit when the coolant system is fully pressurised (its fine when cold/just warming up)
Pete said about the Oil Cooler sealing plate thing, may not of been sealed right or could of just sprung a wee leak. Also said about possibility of dodgy plugs & leads for the poor running as he said the plug wells were full of oil when he did the rocker gaskets.
RAC guy also said the main cooling fan wasn't kicking in, and the only one kicking in was the aux one at about 100... so the fans were kicking in well after boiling...
RAC guy also said that there might be a problem with the thermostat?? He let the car reach around 95deg with the cap off the coolant bottle to get rid of any airlocks, and said the water was still cold in it while the engine itself was warm & toasty. The waterpump was working though as when the engine was hot, and the coolant res started to heat up, the water was pumping through ok.
Oil filler cap was a bit mayo-ee... BUT its the first 12 miles its done since Pete did the oil cooler & such, so its the first proper run its done. So will more than likely just be condensation :)
Also worth a note, when I stopped at the garage to admire the sauna, the coolant level had dropped about 1cm from MAX on the bottle itself, so whatever the leak was it wasn't that bad at the time...
-
RAC guy also said he doubts its the HG as the coolant seem'd to behave itself, no weird noises, starts fine, and there didnt seem to be too much excessive pressure in the cooling system... But after the car was running while he was having a good look over, engine stopped, he took the cap off the header tank and it was like it wanted to have a little wee wee on the guy ;D

can i ask i daft question why is he towing your car backwards ?
Just wondering as when a AA guy towed mine behind his lowloader as he already had a car on the back, down the M1 for 150 miles he had the front wheels up not he backs :-/ :-/
-
It's an automatic. You 'can' kinda tow it from the front, but to avoid any damage to the autobox they recommend putting it on an a-lift and towing it from the rear :)

Without having insider knowledge I'd say the Omega is an automatic! :y :y
-
Ah this does make sence ::) :-[ i was asked by the AA guy last Xmas when i was towed if mine was an auto which it is not ::) ::)

Update...
It feels a bit hesitant low down in the rev range, nothing majorly noticeable, but it does then pick up slightly at higher revs. Does seem down on power somewhat aswell :(
