Title: Remote Key Fob
Post by: wastedperfection on 03 August 2007, 17:31:11
Hi,

Got a 94 2.5 v6 manual and since owning the car the remote key fob has always been hit and miss. I have to take it apart and really messs around with it to get the red light to flash and hopefully knock the immobilizer off.  How could i sort it that the immobilizer was alwways off and didnt need the remote fob to get the car to start?

Or how much do new key fobs cost?

Or can i program a different omega key fob to work with mine?

Matt

You will need to get a new fob and you need the same fob as you have at the moment. You can't use a different fob and get it programed. They cost about £40 from VX by look on ebay first.

Think you should be able to get in the car using the key and start it if the key fob doesn't work, the alarm may go of though. think Immobilizer knocks off when key is turned in the ignition....   I maybe wrong someone will correct me....

Like already said The Key Fobs aren't to dear to buy new. At Greenhous Vauxhall in Hanley they can reprogramme your key for £25 but you have to book it in and take your Car Pass with you.

Alternately The Boy has a Tech 2 which is the tool thats need to do the job, he isn't a bad bloke either ;)

Sorry it jump in on this  ;) My question is if you have a new remote and a new key do they both have to be reprogrammed seperatly  ::) or is it just one . I have the all in one key ie the horse shoe key and two button remote .

If you have bought the horse shoe shaped key, then the remote bit slides into it and this is the bit that needs programming to your car. You should have a Car Pass Card in your owners pack, the number for your Key Code is on there along with your Radio Type & Code, also your VIN Number.

If you have TB programme it with his Tech 2 you don't get ripped off but you will still need your Car Pass :y

For the 94 Omega it will be the Tech1 not the tech2 I'm afraid which TB hasn't got

No it doesn't. What you will have to do is go to the VX dealer and order a new security car pass which will have the Radio code, Vin number and the Key number and code. This will cost about £25 for this and takes about 3-4 days to come through, and never loose it keep it safe.

So I take it the key number and code are the bits needed then  :)

Yes BUT you need to order the security pass to get them if you don't have it. Once you have the security pass you can then get the fob programmed.

OK, the chap with the 94. The immobiliser can be bypassed. Not sure if new key needs tech1 (tech2 cannot talk to ir ecu).

The guy with the 98. Tech2 to program new keys, this needs carpass. Cannot bypass immobiliser on these.

My key code begins with an H followed by a 4 digit number.

Can't help with anything else. :(

no, that sounds like mechanical key number - you need immobiliser code.
