Hi Guys........recently swapped the 2.5 V6 engine as Head Gasket failed and would have been costly...!
Can anyone help by telling me if its normal for the coolant to require topping up at regular intervals?....especially in this warm weather.
My new engine seems fine and the donor apparently was a 98 'S' Reg car.
The amount ive just topped up was about 500ml over a 2 week period...is this normal??
Also the running temp is about 95 rising to about 97.5 on a hot day with AC on...is that normal??
I know the HBV isnt leaking as it looks dry and was replaced 4 months ago.....the oil cooler was also swapped over when engine change happened recently as that was also new on my old engine about 7 months prior.
Any help gratefully received

Could be leaking on the coolant bridge seals.....
Also your running temp is about the same as mine was apparently that is a little high. Should run cooler with air con on as extra air blowing through the rad with air con fans blowing .. I blew out the radiator and Air con rad with an airline which improved the temp slightly, so I have now got some Forte Cooling System Flush this is suppoesed to be THE STUFF to help.
Hope this helps :y

Generally speaking if you see temps of 95-97 it is OK, but the fans should then kick-in and bring it down to around 90-92. On a hot day it would normally fluctuate between these figures. On motorway driving it should remain constant, I would say 90-92 on hot day and less on cold days.
But you should not need to add any coolant at all. If you only just swapped the engine, the coolant level may need to settle down (the system is self-bleeding), but aster a couple of days or so you shouldn't meed to add coolant at all.

It is not normal.
In no way saying anything about your skills, but just double check the oil cooler plate, and coolant bridge and stat while you're there...
