Title: Rear multi ram doesn't seem to be working
Post by: toller on 10 August 2007, 11:11:28
Having just had a bit of a poke about under the bonnet i've discovered that my rear multiram doesn't seem to be opening.  The valve on the air intake open at about 4,000 revs but the rear one stays firmly shut, i've had a suspicion that it wasn't opening but have only confirmed it just now.

It's plugged in and i'm certain there are no leaks anywhere so is it simply a case of fitrting a replacement or is there some other things I should try first?

Would the multi ram sticking closed result in a rather pronounced flat spot at about 4000 revs, I 've also always expected it to have more guts at higher revs, it still goes but has never seemed to shift like I expectred it to before I bought it.

it will explain your flat spot - check all the pipes and cables for breaks or disconnection - especially check vacume tank at front below the bagpipes to make sure all is well there too....

You need a short, sharp blip of the throttle to get the rear one to work.

When the throttle is Blipped the rear multi ram should open or move whatever the term, so this part of the multi ram system then works for low down revs, the front one works for higher revs 4000 rpm surge.
So if there is a flatspot around 4000 rpm doesn't that lead you to think the front one isn't working properly? :-?
