Title: Some 2 Litre questions
Post by: vectrolosys on 12 August 2007, 12:10:26
Hello,

Being more familiar with the V6's and their various traits, having a 2 litre is a new experience, though my Vectra had the same engine, it never suffered any issues in the 30K I owned it.

Right then, this one needs a replacement exhaust manifold, a common issue, as it is blowing slightly and I cannot feel any blows on the front pipes, cat, or joins between the two sections.

Running, the car idles fine, and revs smoothly under load, all the way up to the red line, the plugs and leads are fairly recent fitments. However, under part throttle, taking engine speed just above idle, say around 1200rpm, things become very lumpy. Could this be simply due to the manifold?

As a matter of course, I am thinking of replacing the crank angle sensor and the DIS pack, as these can also cause these symptoms, speaking from the V6 experience.

Accelaration is a little weak, the previous owner had remarked it was not as sparkling as it used to be, which I attribute to the manifold issue.

Was wondering if any 2 litre owners have had similar experiences?

Thanks,

James

Had the same engine in all my Vectra's (Had three) and never had a new DIS pack in any of them (two of them did over 100K), the manifold gasket and cracked manifolds seem to be quite common though at higher miles.

Also the X20XEV suffers camcover gasket failure in the same way as the V6 - oil leaks into plug wells and past the two D's.
