I have replaced my camshaft sensor with a GM unit and replaced the first part of the loom (what is supplied in the box) but i am still having the same hot starting problem and i also still have the fault code 92.
Any ideas????

is engine limiting still dazzler??? not sure what code92 is but i'd say next thing is cranksensor on our cars! oh another thing that you could do is disconnect battery for half hour to clear codes then read codes again.

Unfortunately disconnecting the battery doesn't clear the codes, the codes should clear after 20-30 good starts
What year is the car out of curiosity, did you do the paper clip test

Check cam timing - this can throw a camsensor code...

Maybe a silly suggestion but have you confirmed the connections are all crimped in tight and that the connector is well on, i know lack of space can prevent putting these sensors on properly.
As Theboy has mentioned check the timing I had what he suggested on my dads 2.0 cured it now definately worth checking.

Car is a 1995 M-reg. Cam timing is spot on. The engine is not limiting at all. The trouble is with sometimes when you try and srart the car after you have already used it ( so still warm) It does not quite want to fire up and the EML stays on when it finally starts. At this point i switch it back off and try again. After about 3 or 4 goes it will start fine and no EML lit. From this point it will drive fine with no engine rev limiting. :-/

Do you have any other codes other than the 92 code you have :question
could be a failing crank sensor throwing a wobbly i have heard this can show the camshaft code aswell.

No, only the start up code 12

i agree wi nix, check connections. seems silly but try connections are tight. put insulting tape around each crimp then around them all makes sure no shorts then. but also if all else fails crank sensor is my bet.

Yep, done all that, I actually soldered the joints and used heatshrink on each one, so no probs there. I done this un-connected.

Unplug crank sensor, see if symptoms are similar....
Other thinks to check - try switching on ign, leaving 20s, then starting. Also, try crank for 5s WOT, then start normally...

2.0 can't be paperclipped with engine running, you get nothing. Ask GRUMPY!!! lol

Test done just with ignition lights on. I have tried with engine running, but it will not paperclip test when running :(

2.0 can't be paperclipped with engine running, you get nothing. Ask GRUMPY!!! lol
I'm not 100% sure but i think that is dependent on the year of the car :-/

WOT = Wide Open Throttle - starting WOT switches off injectors (so shouldn't fire) and allows engine to clear excess fuel

I'm sure i did the test on my dads with the engine running could just be me getting muddled.

Unlikely in this case (the code, not the airleak)

i dont think so as cam sensor works on cam rotation along with crank if i'm not mistaken thats why one can cause faults to show with other!
