When a brought the car the air con worked fine and slowy stopped working i suspected a leak and waited till i could be arsed to sort it.
A couple of months ago my brother in law borrowed the car and got it serviced as it didnt work the servce guy said the system is charged but he drained it and changed a filter and the system worked again. how ever now it has stopped again i have tested the pressure and that is fine.
Any ideas off what to look for i was thinking maybe a dodgy compressor??

I would say its leaking, hence why its stopped after a while. How did you confirm pressure is OK?

Used a halfords aircon pressure thing showed it in the red.
Also last time it stopped working the service guy had the proper kit and he said it was fully charged.

Assuming red is high, is that too much pressure (esp as pressure will increase in hot weather)? If so, the guy who filled it is incompetent, so has he put the correct about of PAG in as well as refrigerant?

Because you've got refrigerant in both gaseous and liquid forms in the system measuring pressure alone will only ever be a guide. The only way to know what's happening is to have the system vacuumed out, the correct amounts of refrigerant and oil replaced, and for both the high and low side pressures to be measured. Based on the knowledge that the system is correctly charged, the pressures will tell a decent air con engineer if there is another problem in the system.
It could be leaking (but should have been checked for leaks before it was recharged in the first place) or low or high system pressure could be causing the compressor to shut down. Moisture contamination could be causing it to freeze up.
It's probably best left to a specialist who can recognise the signs of the above.
