:) No damp carpet, thought bout changing the heater blower relay and take it from there.
You have climate - there is an electronic speed controller that is bolted to fan, and it really doesn't like getting wet (ie, scuttle drain blocking)...

Make sure you check your fuses first  :-[

Fuses first to avoid un-necessary work and embarassment...unlike timbuk ;D

Then remove glovebox and look up at the fan casing, you should see a 2x2 unit with several wires going to it which is clipped into the fan case, release the latch to get it out (its dead easy in words, however....)
There is a rectangular cover which prises off to reveal some soldered terminals, if there is signs of corrosion or furry stuff in there then its knackered.
you might be lucky and find a replacement from a breaker.

:D Hello again, fixed the my air prob. Changed the fuse in engin bay still no joy so took the glove box out and thought ooh err this is going to be tricky but then turned the ignition on and give the fan a flick with my finger (not for the faint hearted it nearly diced my finger but it sprung to life) thanks for all the help never would have thought it would be behind the glove box. have sent away for a workshop manual on cd  don`t know if it`l be any good but will let you know if it`s rubbish or ok.  :y
Good news! Both on the working fan, and still having enough fingers to count to 10 ;D
